Black Muslim woman threatened at Edmonton transit station
This is unacceptable.
No member of our community should be threatened with violence or harassed.
Canada, is a democratic and tolerant country, where people of all faiths, ethnicities and beliefs are welcome.
It’s unacceptable for people to espouse hatred or use violence against anyone for their religious beliefs or skin colour.
The Muslim community has a long and important history here in Edmonton. My riding of Edmonton Griesbach in fact is home to the oldest mosque in Canada, the Al Rashid mosque that was built in 1938.
My condolences go out to the victim of this incident.
