Erin talks carbon tax and Liberal COVID blunders in CTV interview

Great interview of Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole on CTV’s Question Period. Click on the link above to watch the full video on CTV. Be patient. There are three short commercials before the interview.

I presented petitions against Liberal gun laws and the carbon tax

I presented petitions signed by constituents rightly concerned with the Liberals new firearms regulations and their carbon tax.The U.K. is short-changing thousands of British-Canadian pensioners

I was glad to join a group on a virtual meeting fighting for fair pensions for British-Canadians. These so-called frozen pensions aren’t indexed to the cost of living. Thousands of British-Canadians — including some of my constituents — are short-changed a great deal of money and some are living in poverty. Britain refuses to “uprate” pensions for many of citizens living abroad even if those people have paid National Insurance contributions all of their lives. The meeting included Parliamentarians from the U.K. and Canada and was chaired by British Conservative MP Sir Roger Gale. There’s still no solution to correct this but I’m glad to continue fighting for fairness for these folks.

I met with Credit Union officials to hear their thoughts on the financial economy

Excellent virtual meeting with reps of the Canadian Credit Union Association. Credit unions have been front and centre helping clients through these trying COVID times.

Canada trails dozens of other nations on vaccinations

As much as Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government boast about all the vaccines they’ve ordered for Canada the truth is their record of actually getting vaccines to people is abysmal. On the most recent list, dozens of other countries big and small have vaccinated more people than Canada thus saving lives.

Janice Sarich death is a loss for our community

I’m very sad to hear the shocking news of the untimely death by cancer of my friend, former provincial Conservative MLA Janice Sarich who was just 62 years old.

She was just diagnosed with and aggressive form of cancer just three weeks ago.

My deepest condolences to her husband Steve and to all who loved her.

She was always willing to support me in my political endeavours and we enjoyed getting together at numerous events in and around my federal riding of Edmonton Griesbach, especially functions with the vibrant Ukrainian community of which she was an integral part.

Indeed this photo with Janice, Coun. Jon Dziadyk, me and former premier Ed Stelmach was taken at the 2018 Ukrainian Festival (U-Fest) at Borden Park.

I’ll miss her, as will many others.

Last week’s straw poll results

In my last e-newsletter, I asked folks if they thought Canada should push to move the 2022 Olympics from China due to its gross human rights abuses.

The vast majority voted to move the Olympics.

A big thanks to everyone who took part.

Have your say

Do you think the Liberals are going to call a spring election?

Have your say in my new unofficial poll. I’ll publish the results in next week’s e-newsletter.
