August 2025
Greetings, community members.
It’s Kerry Diotte, Member of Parliament, for Edmonton Griesbach.
I want to hear from as many constituents as possible so that I can fight for your concerns in Ottawa.
Lately I’ve heard a lot of people upset about Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Justin Trudeau-created plan to ban gas- and diesel-powered vehicles with the Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate law.
Many folks are so upset about it I’ve brought it up in the House of Commons and started a petition in an effort to halt this madness.
You can watch me raise this during Question Period in the House of Commons. Click the link below.
The ban partially kicks in in mere months. Starting in 2026, the Liberals will be forcing 20% of all new car sales in Canada to be electric vehicles (EVs), even though they now make up less than 10% of new car sales in Canada.
Eventually, that increases to 100% EVs by 2035, completely banning new gas and diesel vehicle sales.
For rural, northern, and working Canadians who drive long distances to work, provide for their families, or haul supplies, EVs simply aren’t practical.
What’s more, our electricity grid isn’t ready for millions of EVs.
This mandate could lead to more blackouts and higher power bills during a cost-of-living crisis.
If you want to pull the plug on the Liberal EV Mandate please sign my petition below and share it with others:
I promise to personally delivery every petition to the prime minister’s office.
Besides fighting for you on issues that are important, my office can help cut through heavy-duty government red tape.
