Parliament is back Sept. 15

I hope you’ve had a great summer!

With Parliament back in session on Sept. 15, I’m eager to help fight for the issues you’ve told me are important to you.

I received hundreds of replies to a survey asking what issues are important to you and several topics came up frequently.

That included the need to push the Mark Carney Liberals to change laws so it’s easier to get our natural resources to all parts of the country and the world.

We also heard you’re concerned about federal government over-spending that is fueling inflation and making everything we need to buy more expensive.

But the biggest priority I heard from folks is the need to combat the rise in crime.

Crime and chaos are spreading. Since the Liberals took power, violent crime is up 54%. Sexual assaults are up 75%. Extortion has skyrocketed by 330% across Canada. From coast to coast, lax Liberal laws have Canadians living in fear.

This is why I heartily support the Conservative action plan to help restore safe streets. Here are some ways we’re pushing to see that happen:

1) Conservatives announced our ‘Stand on Guard’ principle: a proposed amendment to the Criminal Code that would ensure Canadians won’t be thrown in jail for simply defending their homes, their families and themselves. If someone breaks into your home and puts your family at risk, you shouldn’t be forced to worry about being thrown in jail for doing what you must to protect their lives.

2) Jail not Bail – Repeal Liberal catch-and-release laws C-5 and C-75, keep violent offenders locked behind bars and end the revolving door justice system.

3) Ban the Bishnoi Gang – List one of the major extortion groups, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, as a terrorist entity, giving police and prosecutors stronger tools to dismantle this violent, transnational extortion network threatening Canadians.

4) Stop Extortion – Restore and strengthen mandatory jail time, so extortionists face real consequences: a minimum of 3 years for all extortion; 4 years if it involves a gun, and 5 years when tied to organized crime.

Another priority this fall will be the fight against the Carbon Tax 2.0, or as the Liberals try and call it, the Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR). These regulations will increase fuel prices by 17 cents per liter by 2030!

In and around our communities

I had the privilege of attending many events this summer in the community giving me the opportunity to meet with lots of familiar as well as new faces. Please reach out with any upcoming events you have, and I will try my best to attend.

Thanks Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Acting Interim Co-Chief Warren Driechel for setting up an informative ride-along for me and to see some of the good work done on encampments and transit safety. Very impressive that all such efforts are done with a view toward helping people with mental health issues and addictions re-integrate into mainstream society.

Glad to  congratulate Pierre and Ana on his convincing by-election victory. I really enjoyed helping door knock in Camrose and scrutineering election night. Met some really great folks in that city. It’ll be fantastic to have Pierre back in the House of Commons holding PM Mark Carney and the Liberals to account.

Always a blast attending Edmonton Heritage Festival, reputed to be the world's largest three-day multicultural celebration. Bonus is it's being held in our federal riding of Edmonton Griesbach.

Sign our petition fighting EV-mandates

Look, I’ve got nothing against folks who buy Teslas or other electric vehicles. I’d certainly entertain the thought of buying a plug-in hybrid vehicle myself one day.

But did you know that under Liberal legislation the sale in Canada of hybrid vehicles and plug-in hybrids will be banned outright?

Yes, under current Liberal legislation that begins to kick in in a few months, auto manufacturers will be mandated to sell larger and larger percentages of full-electric vehicles in coming years.

Then the hammer drops in 2035 when no new gas or diesel vehicles will be allowed to be sold in Canada.

It’s outrageous. Want to help stop this insanity?
